Heartworm and Lyme Testing (4DX)

The 4DX test is a simple and quick blood test that screens for four common vector-borne diseases in dogs: heartworm disease, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis.

How is the 4DX Test Performed?

A small blood sample is taken from your dog and analyzed in-clinic. Results are available within minutes, allowing our team to discuss any concerns and next steps with you during the same visit.

What Does the Test Tell You?

  • Heartworm Disease: Identifies the presence of heartworm antigens, which indicate an active infection.

  • Lyme Disease: Detects antibodies to the bacteria responsible for Lyme disease, revealing if your dog has been exposed.

  • Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichiosis: Screens for antibodies to these tick-borne diseases, which can cause fever, lethargy, and other health issues if untreated.

Why is the 4DX Test Important?

Early detection of heartworm and tick-borne diseases is crucial for effective treatment and prevention of serious health complications. The 4DX test not only provides peace of mind but also helps your veterinarian create a tailored plan to protect your dog from these common but preventable conditions.
